Résumé
L’objet de cette recherche est d’étudier les « sens » de l’activité graphique de l’architecte dans son travail de conception. En s’appuyant largement sur les résultats obtenus par J. Ch. Lebahar (cf. Le dessin d’architecte, 1983, ed. Parenthèses), ce sens est successivement étudié comme pluri-fonctionnalité des instruments graphiques, structuration du processus de conception architecturale et influence prévisible des finalités des situations sur les pratiques graphiques actuelles des architectes. Ces trois études illustrent une même « dialectique du signe et du sens » qui pose comme problème à chaque fois renouvelé, la question de l’articulation entre les adaptations objectives du sujet aux contraintes d’une situation, ses significations subjectives et anthropologiques. Abstract The object of this research is to study the « meaning » of the graphical activity within the architect’s conception work. Relying largely upon the results obtained by J. Ch. Lebahar (see Le dessin d’architecte, 1983, ed. Parentheses) this meaning is successively studied through the variety of functions of graphic instruments, the structuration of architectural conception process and the predictable influences of the aims of theses situations on the current graphic practices of architects. These three studies illustrate a single problem called the « dialectics of sign and meaning » relative to the articulation between the objective adaptations of the subject to the constraints of a situation, its subjective significances and cultural dimensions. A second problem is also presented and discussed in this article: the « instrumental problem » through which we study the influences of the « framework concept » on knowledge built by the subject. Spatial graphics are defined as the graphic supports of the mental representation of a spatial problem and studied within this article, the essential helps and limits of the instrumental relation between graphic and mental representations are presented. The other results concern a macro-didactical hypothesis for a project of research in the didactics of spatial graphics and the formulation of the graphic conception activity in terms of « interplay between different frameworks » functioning (or not) between the graphical framework and the spatial framework (which is directly related to the subject by his senses).
Une deuxième problématique de la didactique fondamentale est également présentée et justifiée dans cet article : la « problématique instrumentale » conduit à s’interroger sur l’influence des « cadres de représentation » sur les connaissances construites par le sujet. Les graphismes d’espaces sont définis comme les « supports graphiques de la représentation mentale d’un problème spatial ». les auteurs étudient dans l’article les principales aides et limites.
