Résumé

Ce livre comprend trois parties principales et un appendice historique extensif. Chaque chapitre est enrichi d’un ensemble d’exercices intéressants.
Dans la première partie, les propriétés des triangles, des cercles et quelques particularités caractéristiques des sections coniques sont examinées.
La seconde partie est consacrée à une discussion sur des transformations telles que les projections parallèle et centrale, les inversions et les polarités, dans le plan et dans l’espace.
La troisième partie contient des informations sur les formes quadratiques et les notions les plus caractéristiques. Il est notamment montré que les théorèmes généraux peuvent être obtenus par généralisation de théorèmes particuliers.

Abstract

The book consists of three main parts and an extensive historical appendix. Each chapter is enriched by a set of interesting exercises. In the first part, the properties of triangles, circles and some characteristic peculiarities of the conic sections are discussed. The second part is devoted to a discussion of such transformations as: the parallel and central projections, inversions and polarities, in the plane and space. The third part contains some facts about the quadratic forms and the most characteristic notions from the accepted in the book is this that the general theorems can be obtained in the process of generalization of particular theorems. Zusammenfassung

Das Buch wendet sich an Mathematikstudenten unterer und mittlerer Semester und besteht aus drei Hauptteilen und einem ausfuehrlichen historischen Anhang. Jedes der 13 Kapitel enthaelt interessante Uebungsaufgaben. Im ersten Teil werden die Eigenschaften von Dreiecken, Kreisen und Kegelschnitten behandelt. Im zweiten Teil werden Abbildungen diskutiert: Parallel- und Zentralprojektion, Inversion und Polaritaeten in der Ebene und im Raum. Der dritte Teil enthaelt die Grundlagen der quadratischen Formen und eine Einfuehrung in die projektive, elliptische und hyperbolische Geometrie. Leitendes Prinzip bei der Abfassung des Buchs war, allgemeine Saetze durch Verallgemeinerung spezieller Saetze abzuleiten. (ZDM/Mathdi)
